The Gozo Music Festival has become an established date in the local calendar. This event, now in its eight edition, has grown in stature and is now a much sought after festival both locally and internationally. It all started in the winter of 2001 when a number of local bands were invited to do a gig every Sunday in Gozo. From there, the idea developed that these bands could stand their own besides their international counterparts and the Gozo Music Festival was born.
During the launch held at the Villa Brasserie, Balluta Minister for Gozo, Giovanna Debono favourably commented upon initiatives taken up by private enterprises in Gozo as is the case of Dynamic Promotions. ‘The Ministry for Gozo supports such initiatives since they also serve as added attractions that result in an increase of visitors to the island’ said the Hon Debono. The Minister also remarked upon the considerable increase in the calendar of cultural and social events on the island, that include all genres of music. ‘The presence of international artistes put Gozo on the international map, thus also serving as added promotion for Gozo as a tourist destination’, concluded Minister Debono.
This is an event certainly not to be missed, enabling Gozo to be promoted for recreational purposes and encouraging people to come and visit the island.
